Resolution Concerning Comprehensive Immigration Reform Act of 2007

Whereas, the 2006 Republican Party of Texas Platform unequivocally states:

Illegal Immigration “ No amnesty! No how. No way".

With growing impatience, the American people in overwhelming numbers have asked our government to secure our borders. They now demand it and we as a party agree with the American people. Illegal aliens have, by definition, committed a criminal act. We oppose illegal immigration, amnesty in any form, or legal status for illegal immigrants. The American people remember the broken promises of 1986 and will not be misled again.

House members voted 37-27 along party lines to uphold a provision in a $124 billion war spending legislation that calls for troops to leave Iraq before September 2008, and possibly sooner if the Iraqi government does not meet certain benchmarks. Republicans had proposed stripping out the timetable.

The Democratic-run committee then approved the overall spending measure by 36-28. Rep. Barbara Lee, D-Calif., a strong foe of the war, was the only lawmaker to switch sides in the vote.

Nancy Pelosi-led House Democrats set Committe Budgets/Priorities

Well, so much for the Democrats getting their priorities straight. House resolution 202 passed on March 5, 2007 by the Democratic majority put their priorities in order by putting their money where their mouth is. For the next two years the committee budgets are:

  • Oversight and Government Reform: $21,602,950
  • Ways and Means: $19,040,609
  • Foreigh Affairs: $17,391,504
  • Energy and Commerce: $21,057,249
  • Transportation and Infrastructure: $19,261,795

While DEMS argue about contributions National GOP does the Right Thing

A Republican Party campaign committee that received $20,000 from a man now accused of helping terrorists has donated the money to a foundation that comforts families of wounded soldiers.

"In light of the recent charges filed again a former donor, the National Republican Senatorial Committee will donate the sum total of the former donor's contribution" to the Fisher House Foundation, which provides housing for families on the grounds of military and Veterans' Administration hospitals.

I wonder how quick and how long it would take the Democrats to take such action?
